Each year, one Colorado company is awarded The Wright in recognition of its enterprising spirit and commitment to the notion that if you believe hard and do good work, people will notice.  In 2014, Boulder-based Eldorado Climbing Walls took home The Wright. “The Wright provided the Eldo Team a unique opportunity to meet and engage with folks from companies that operate with the same level of passion and drive as us,” said Kevin Volz, CEO, Eldorado Climbing Walls. “Partnerships were launched and friendships created. And it didn’t hurt that those folks were our Colorado neighbors.”

Selected from a statewide pool of 125 nominees, this year’s 11 contenders are now challenged to – in a 90-second video – convey their vision and inspiration, while highlighting the role that Colorado plays in shaping their company. “These contenders represent a mindset, a can-do approach to business,” said Chuck Sullivan, co-founder of Something Independent. “These are the companies carrying the torch for the Colorado brand and this is their 90 seconds to make the industry believe.”

A panel of judges, composed of past Wright winners, industry media and economic development leaders, will evaluate the video entries, determine finalists and, following a live, rapid-fire Q & A, will award the winner of The 2015 Wright on the evening of October 20, in Denver. The winner will receive a cash prize of $5,000.
Award night culminates a two-day summit of founders, industry influencers, athletes, entrepreneurs, media and civic leaders coming together at The Wright to connect and discuss the opportunities and challenges of doing business at the intersection of lifestyle and commerce.
“These companies are Colorado. They play an important role in shaping our communities and the state’s economy,” said Luis Benitez, Director of Colorado’s newly established Outdoor Recreation Industry Office. “Opportunities to come together and connect with industry peers can lead to new collaborative initiatives and present a platform to show the rest of the country what Colorado is really about.”

The 2015 contenders range from Cortez-based Osprey Packs, in its 41st year of business, to Buena Vista’s Deerhammer Distilling Company, a rising star in Colorado’s fast growing distilling scene, to Topo Designs, Denver-based maker of made-in-Colorado backpacks and bags.
