The Wright

Hosted annually by Something Independent, The Wright is a much anticipated convening of lifestyle industry leaders and award program. From its inception, The Wright has recognized the influential role the lifestyle industries play in shaping our economy and contributing to the Rocky Mountain brand.

More than an industry showcase, The Wright highlights a mindset. Each year’s class of contenders represent a cross section of companies. Some big. Some small. Some new. Some established. In our selection, we look for leadership and a little grit. We listen to their peers and honor their enterprising spirit, along with their commit to their craft and communities.

He’s a former TV anchorman, marketing pro and full-time dad who calls the mountains of Wyoming home. He believes that success is directly attributed to work ethic, passion and a deep desire to disrupt the status quo.

In February of 2013, Gov. John Hickenlooper announced the the appointment of Erik Mitisek as the state’s new Chief Innovation Officer. 

Erik Mitisek is currently the executive director of Project X-ite at the University of Denver. Launched in 2016, Project X-ITE is a campus wide cross-discipline initiative at the intersection of inovation, technology and entrepreneurship positioning DU as a global leader in higher education.

As one of the founders and co-chair, Mitisek led the successful organization and production of Denver Startup Week, which was the first and largest event of its kind celebrating entrepreneurship in Denver.
