S|I Outpost

Over the years we have had the good fortune to witness how ideas and stories shared around the campfire, while pedaling byways or over a whiskey, have a powerful way of bringing people together.

S|I Outpost

PROJECT The S|I OutPost is a traveling experience that brings together and shares stories of the ‘doers’, those who are shaping rural communities across our region. In partnership with three established events, this year’s S|I OutPost visits the eastern plains, central mountains and western slope of Colorado. Within each stop the S|I OutPost provides a casual place to convene, converse and recharge.

Why We Do It

The S|I OutPost conveys an honest look at rural America — key issues affecting communities and the committed individuals defining their way of life. Ranchers, farmers, fabricators, distillers and Main Street shop owners are our original entrepreneurs and collectively they reflect a resilient portrait of leadership that is courageous, principled and collaborative.

Raises awareness of opportunities and an understanding of challenges in our rural areas.
Inspires deeper exploration into the fabric of rural areas, including its people, places and uniqueness.
Fosters dialogue amongst diverse communities of leaders – founders, funders and innovators.

A little rough around the edges, but a place where everyone feels at home. Camp chairs and fire pit. Watering hole and a place to meet. Enjoy a beverage. Share perspective.

Integrated media production [podcasts, video vignettes, photography and written perspectives). Through the lens of Something Independent and partner media & content producers.

An afternoon ritual celebrating the good work and good people of the community. Featuring local libations.

Trade School

Where you get your learning on. Coffee roasting and knot tying. Whiskey tastings and water law. Songwriting and farming.

Drop by. Charge-up. Catch a little shut-eye. Hitch your wagon.
