There exists in Colorado a certain culture of snow – representing possibility, exposing vulnerability, and inspiring risk. The Art of Winter is a canvas for sharing the stories and creations of artists and entrepreneurs who are melding their passions with their professions. Art of Winter exhibits will be on display from January 16 – February 6, in select locations throughout the Denver Theatre District and Historic Larimer Square in Downtown Denver.

Gondola Installation Art – Colorado artist and designer, Sam Mobley is commissioned to create an installation of hanging cardboard gondolas in the lobby of the Colorado Convention Center. Using cardboard as the medium, the power of creative thinking is demonstrated in this unique installation. By taking everyday objects and re-imagining them, we inspire the public to think big but start small. This installation will consist of three full-size gondola cars and will be on display during the SIA Snowshow.

The Colorado Filmmakers Project – Colorado is home to many of the worlds most acclaimed outdoor filmmakers. Through their films they capture the stories of adventurers and risk-takers who are inspiring others to take action in pursuit of their dreams. We have invited 5 of these recognized filmmakers to share their most inspirational and awe inspiring footage in weaving a series of short vignettes to be shown throughout the Art of Winter on select LEDs in downtown Denver. The large format, high-definition LED screens are prominent in the Denver Theatre District.

Ski & Snowboard Art – An outdoor exhibition that challenges Colorado artists to create on non-traditional canvasses of recycled skis and snowboards. The resulting original works from over 20 artists and designers will be displayed outdoors, against the backdrop of winter on Denver’s Historic Larimer Square.

The Brand Gallery – The desire to merge work and play, and make a vocation from one’s avocation, is driving snow sports innovators and entrepreneurs to translate their ideas and passion into accessible, game-changing products. These innovative designs, and the artist entrepreneurs behind them are on display.
